A TOUCH OF THE TROPICS, SUMMER - FEBRUARY 2018

12:15 PM-ish - Sun, warm, gold sparkle, sun, wind chimes
Sunny, warm, a bit of breeze to lightly tinkle the gold sparkling, sun, wind chimes

Sitting on front porch, perfect flavor yogurt snack
Toasted Coconut Vanilla
A touch of the tropics
Summer
---------------------------------------------------------
Can't get away from it, even if I want to
And sometimes I do want to get away from it
Nostalgia
Lately I've been OK without it, for a while
But here it comes while sitting on the front porch
With my Toasted Coconut Vanilla flavor yogurt snack
A business vehicle, traffic in front of my house front porch
Ocean State Oil
----------------------------------------------------------
Lunch On The Front Porch
Chicken Of The Sea Solid White Albacore Tuna
Tuna with Mayonnaise and Black Pearls Olives

A bird in the bush
Hopped to the railing
A Chipping Sparrow? The beak maybe a Finch?
Brown
Checked me out
Flitted away

The breeze is now chilly
Chased me inside
Never mind
Plenty to do inside
Dishes
Still cleaning out "stuff"
Cleaning...

1:04 PM - 64 Degrees F, 16% humidity, sunny, breezy, cool in the shade

60 Degrees F Winter Spring Break Weather

A young couple, both tall and slim, casual dressed for Spring

Holding hands, swinging, walking on busy Route 140

No sidewalk, didn't matter

Exuding exuberant aura of perfectly matched

Or was it just in my mind

They were perfectly matched

Because it was such a lovely

Winter Spring Break Weather

Day
-------------------------------------------

Bird twitters
I've already heard a robin, earlier this year, wondered if it wintered over or was an early arrival.
I've heard a few more.
And redwing blackbirds rusty hinge rasp
Harbinger of Spring,.
Waiting for peepers peeping
Then I'll know its Spring.

COMPASS ROSE NECKLACE

I am not a stranger to the nautical having grown up Cape Cod, MA usa, early 1950's, until I attended Framingham State College (now up-branded to Framingham State University) and settled off-Cape after college mid to late 1970's. My parents and other relatives and friends lived there their remaining lives. I went back to see my Cape Cod family often. Not during Summer, peak tourist season, if I could help it.
Several years ago now, I saw the Compass Rose Necklace in a Cross Jewelers, Portland, ME paper advertisement and purchased what I could afford.
     I just really liked it.
I found out later that my niece and nephew-in law sold this line at the time in their jewelry store,
M. K. Benatti, 11 State Street, Newburyport, MA 01950, also.
I felt so bad.
I wore it every day for a long time.
I lost it once. I searched the area where I worked, nothing. I
shook out the clothes I was wearing, nothing. I despaired it was lost for good.
     One
evening, in the bathroom, looking down, something shone. I looked down under the edge of the sink - the Compass Rose disk had re-appeared.
I never found the chain. I replaced the chain with a purchase from Baza Jewelers here in Milford, MA. I go to Baza Jewelers if I need or want something locally. Not often, but Mr. Baza has always been gracious when I have visited. I think it was our daughters joined Girl Scouts, and my daughter and his children went to Milford Public School, probably not the same grades.
I stopped wearing my Compass Rose Necklace for a little after fracturing my right knee cap last September. I took it off to go to hospital for my successful operation, and didn't put it on again.
Until recently. I have started wearing it again.
I haven't bought any other piece of jewelry from Cross Jewelers, Portland, ME.
They advertise in the paper Sunday magazine "GLOBE MAGAZINE", which comes in the "BOSTON SUNDAY GLOBE" paper newspaper. I look to see what they are advertising in that printing.
They have my address, continue to send me paper catalogs.
I pore through their paper catalogs,
     Window shopping.
     Maybe something, some other day.
From any of these jewelry stores.
     Or not.

YES, I HAVE SEEN THIS WEATHER COLOR GREEN

06 February 2018 Tuesday
Dayrise.
Light grey white grey violet grey blue grey.
A line of white gold along the horizon.
My horizon is tree tops.
It used to be ocean.

Yes, I have seen this weather color green.
Inland as well as coast.
I just didn't know how to describe it.

Here is how Nora Roberts describes it in HEART OF THE SEA, Chapter Eighteen
"Had you ever seen that green tint to the clouds' edges before? Had  you ever tasted air that had such a flavor of mean in it?"
"She would hit, they said, and hit hard."

"A storm hovered over the village, marching down from the northeast to camp on the border as an army digs in for a siege. The rising winds and splattering rain that were its leading edge chased people from the beaches, and brought a nasty chill. The sky, thick and bruised and ominous, had even the locals glancing upward with apprehension.
Had you ever seen that green tint to the clouds' edges before? Had you ever tasted air that had such a flavor of mean in it?
She would hit, they said, and hit hard.
Those who'd been through such things before checked their stock of candles and lamp oil and batteries. Supplies were laid in, and children ordered to stay close to home. Boats were secured in their docks as Ardmore prepared for the coming battle."

OWLS - January 25th 2018 Thursday

Texting with my husband Joe

Me, 5:02 A.M.: "Yesterday A.M. and this A.M. I think I hear an owl 'who-who-who'."

Joe, 5:40 A.M.: "Owl or mourning dove?"

Me, 5:43 A.M.: "Hmmm...still going with owl first impression and not sure mourning doves coo at this tie during night early early morning."

Joe, 6:00 A.M.: "If you heard an owl it was probably a Great Horned Owl. According to Mass Audubon they can be found throughout the state, most commonly in winter. I emailed you a link to a series of owl sounds Check them out and see if it was a Great Horned Owl that you heard."

Me, 6:14 A.M.: "The bird presentations people at library events we have attended say owls are around this area also."

Me, 2:09 P.M.: "Sounds like a Great Horned Owl."

JANUARY 20TH 2018 SATURDAY - MY 65TH BIRTHDAY

Gorgeous January Thaw Weekend, So Many Times It Snows, Blizzards

Texting with my husband Joe, he and our daughter looking for birthday gift ideas for me, and results

Joe: "Courtney is looking for ideas on what to give you for your birthday. Is there anything you would like me to pass onto her for ideas?"

Me: "You and she both could give me a photo album or 2 to put actual photos in. I think about 4" by 6" photos."

Joe: "Anything else?"

Me: "Nothing else I can think of at the moment. Oh, wait - a knee that works 100 percent! (:0)"

Me: "I have another gift idea. Socks. Let Courtney know also."

Me: "Another gift idea for me. Hood sweatshirt that zips up front has pockets size Large. Like the Cape Cod sweatshirt I wear all the time."

Asked and received - socks (art: Starry Night, The Scream - Courtney's younger self did The Scream, The Kiss, 2nd pair of Mona Lisa), an elephant design hooded with pockets, front zip sweatshirt, photo album in a cloth bag bright emerald green good for St. Patrick's Day; an elephant design carry bag Courtney found at a Good Will store near where she lives in CT was my Christmas present. Winter weather issues prevented her coming here since Thanksgiving.
